Unified Soccer Kicks Off 2017 Season

UNIFIED TEAM ROSTER AND SCHEDULE

LONG BEACH, Calif. (May 26, 2017) – Special Olympics Southern California’s unified soccer team is on the road in San Jose for its 2017 season opener.

The Los Angeles Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes’ unified teams will square off Saturday night at Avaya Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m.

Special Olympics Southern California and the L.A. Galaxy team exchange program brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 16-25, to promote social inclusion through sport. Players for the co-ed team were selected based on: their ability to work with and value teammates of all abilities; their commitment to the Play Unified experience and their teammates; and their understanding of the game and rules of soccer. All players are registered Special Olympics athletes or Special Olympics unified partners.
