SEATTLE, Wash. – It is the final day of competition for the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games. Special Olympics Southern California athletes (Team SOSC) will take the stage on the track and in the pool before the closing ceremony will end the games at 7 p.m.
The day will begin with Sarah Kovacs and Robert Waters on the Husky Track with the 1,500-meter run at 8:30 and 8:45 a.m., respectively. Thanks to his qualifying run to start USA Games, Brett Laza will compete in the 100-meter dash high performance division final at 9:35 a.m.
The rest of the day belongs to the swimmers. A little after 10:00 a.m. from King County Aquatics Center the 50M backstroke will take place. Steven Espinoza, Nicholas Laguna, Ethan Tran, Kiana Yep, Nicolette Jones and Dawn Albritton will all compete in their respective divisions.
It will be a quick turnaround for Albritton and Jones, who will have to quickly get back into the pool for the 25-meter breaststroke final roughly 20 minutes after their backstroke final. Competition for Team SOSC will then end with Lisa Koskovich, Christina Principe, Steven Espinoza and Jonathan Pierce swimming the 4×100 freestyle relay.
Closing Ceremony will then take place at Lake Union Park at 7 p.m. Attendees will celebrate athlete successes and the culmination of the 2018 USA Games, while enjoying music by Seattle band Hey Marseilles, mobile food trucks, festive street performers and a short program.
