Rams Led Camp Begins July Partnership

LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Los Angeles Rams are partnering with Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) to host a series of flag football camps in 2017. These camps will give SOSC athletes a preview of the sport.

The first of these camps is Saturday, July 8 and continues a month of #CelebratingChampions. The camps are for pre-selected SOSC athletes.

A 100 athletes will participate in the inaugural FUNdamentals Football Camp and Punt, Pass, and Kick Challenge (PPK) at Champions Field in Inglewood at Edward Vincent Jr. Park.  The athletes first will learn the skills and fundamentals of the game of football.  Then, the athletes will participate in a Punt, Pass, and Kick Challenge.  The top athletes will then compete in a PPK Finals at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum prior the Rams PLAY 60 game when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, December 10.

Employees from Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions will be at the first Camp, In addition to providing support for the athletes, they will also provide food and drinks for all participants.

On the same day, Albertsons Companies Foundation, The Vons Foundation and The Pavilions Foundation will kick off an in-store fundraising campaign featuring Rams Punter Johnny Hekker to benefit Special Olympics Southern California. The campaign will run from July 8 – August 1 in all Southern California Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions stores. Customers can donate at checkout of their local Albertsons, Vons and/or Pavilions through Aug. 1.

Earlier this summer, Hekker participated in the opening ceremony for Summer Games, held at Cal State Long Beach.
