INSIDE SOSC: Central Coast Hosts Plane Pull

Inside SOSCTen teams of 15 people tested their strength at the Central Coast Airfest and Band of Brothers ECHO Group came out on top at the Special Olympics Northern Santa Barbara Plane Pull in Santa Maria last Saturday.

Much like the annual Long Beach Plane Pull event, teams raised funds and competed to see which team could pull a 124,000-pound jet 12 feet the fastest. Band of Brothers ECHO Group clocked in at 6.23 seconds to finish with the fastest pull of the day.

The top fundraising team was Wolfpack SBSO, which raised $1,520. Jason Davie was the top individual fundraiser at $610. In all, the event raised $10,000.

Law enforcement agencies in attendance included the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office, Santa Maria Police Department, Santa Maria Rangers and Santa Barbara County Probation Department.

Inside the SOSC is a blog managed by staff member Tracy McDannald. SOSC Law Enforcement Torch Run coordinator Amber Lasher contributed to this report. It is a more feature-style approach to looking inside what makes Special Olympics Southern California so unique, so special. It is meant to explore the people and their stories. One word at a time.
