From fútbol to football, Christopher Barnes enjoys the thrill of competition.
This summer, the Southwest High School product from San Diego and his teammates will compete in Unified soccer at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle.
Christopher, who first got involved with Special Olympics through track and field, said the best part is “competing with other people” across Southern California. Now, he can’t wait to do the same against others from around the country.
“I’m excited for that,” he added.
Christopher’s athletic prowess is not just limited to Special Olympics. In fact, he’s proud to also be a running back on the school’s football team.
Through sports, Christopher also has found himself to be healthier and more sociable.
“I like talking,” Christopher said.
